Post 8 >> A Subject you've enjoyed studying this semester

My favorite subject this semester is scientific and clinical bases for diagnosis II, but my favorite subject within this subject was the area of oral pathology, since we solved clinical cases in groups and it was very entertaining, it was possible to learn a lot. In clinical cases we must solve a problem presented by a fictitious patient, give him a diagnosis and help him improve his health.

Among the contents that we have learned, there are many, but I will mention some such as: reactional lesions, benign neoplasms, biopsy of the oral mucosa, oral cancer and different types of diseases that affect the autoimmune system.

I really like the topic of oral pathology because I feel that it is very interesting, many times patients think that a dentist can only see the teeth but there is a world beyond to explore and pathology helps us a lot.Through oral pathology we can discover other diseases such as a person with VIH or another type of disease. I like it very much because through the histology of the tissue we can discover the disease that the patient has. I really enjoyed studying pathology this semester because I had the opportunity to acquire knowledge that I believed was not necessary to pursue a career in dentistry.

Blog Post 6: How Can Your Major Make the World a Better Place

Hello everyone, I am currently studying dentistry, this is a very beautiful career and with many contributions to deliver to the whole world.

Dentistry is characterized by returning or delivering smiles to patients, this is done by all dentists around the world some specialists in children or adults. This career contributes in many ways for example: emotionally, psychologically and also in aesthetics. Returning a smile to a patient makes a person of thousands in the world happy and not afraid to smile.

Dentists, unlike other specialists, often recycle their instruments with which they work, this is done through the sterilization of materials.

In the future I would like to be a dentist who specializes in surgery of the maxillo palatine lip, because I want to help all the little boys and girls in the world who are born with this disability and deserve that their oral cavity has a correct functioning.

this speciality in the world can affect in several ways for example: it will contribute to the happiness of parents worried about their child who was born with this disability, it will improve the anatomy and functioning of the mouth of children, It is possible to have a worldwide impact because with one more specialist you have more coverage of this disability.

In this process I see myself helping people who have this disability and who have not had the opportunity to do a reconstruction of their facial maxillo area, I see myself operating in different care centers around the world and at very low cost to help the poorest population.

I believe that what would help the world more would be to achieve greater coverage of this disability and that this would help to have a healthy and happy population at low cost.

Post 5 > A Photograph and its Story

Hi, it was very difficult to choose just one photo. In this photograph we are me and my kitten "Simba" sleeping in my bed. If you’re wondering why his name is Simba, it’s in honor of the lion king hahaha😂😁.

This photograph for me is very significant because it shows all the love that I and my kitten felt, I say we felt because Simba disappeared about a month ago and has not returned home. Every day I wonder where he might be, some people tell me that they may have kidnapped him or even run him over, but it’s hard to think that something like that happened to him.

The story of this photograph is very funny, because it was a day that I and Simba were sleeping together and as usual he was curled up around my neck. This picture was taken by my boyfriend while I was sleeping, when I woke up he showed me the photograph he had taken and it was very tender to see how my kitten slept next to me.

This photograph matters to me and I am very interested because it is one of the most beautiful memories I have with my cat. Simba was a great friend and companion, with him I lived many beautiful experiences. Ever since I got to the house as a kid he slept next to me and the funniest thing was that he looked like a human the way he slept. Something interesting about this photograph is that the simba paw is also on my arm, it’s like he’s hugging me!

Now there are only the great memories left with Simba, I still hope that one day I will return home, it has been difficult days without my adventure partner.

Post 4 >> A Meal or Food you really like

Hi, it’s really hard to tell which food I like the most when I like many. But choosing one I stay with the "Charquicán", is a traditional Chilean dish, it is said that originally it is a Mapuche dish that was prepared with charqui, before cattle ranching began in Chile, currently it is prepared with beef.

The "Charquicán" is prepared by placing to cook in a pot with water several vegetables such as: sweet potato squash, potatoes, green beans, peas and corn. While the vegetables are cooking, in a separate skillet a sauté is made with onion, carrot, garlic, oil, pepper, pepper, oregano and beef. When we have the cooked vegetables and the sauté ready, the vegetables should be ground a little and put together with the sauté. With this the dish is ready to serve, some people accompany it with a fried egg but personally I like it without egg.

I really like this dish because it combines many flavors and fresh vegetables, its flavor is unique. It is also a dish that has an emotional value for me because my grandmother always cooks it for me and Charquicán like hers there is not!

All excess food is harmful to health, I do not think that Charquican causes health problems, is a good source of proteins and vitamins, but that can be confirmed by a nutritionist.

I recommend you try this wonderful dish, you will love it! 😋

Post 3: My favourite piece of technology

Hello, it is very difficult to decide for a single favorite piece of technology because today there are many and each of them are necessary in our lives.

If I have to decide for a favorite piece of technology, I would choose the notebook or computer because we can give it different utilities. For example: I can watch my favorite movies and shows, watch classes, study, research and much more.

The notebook I currently have was given to me by my mom for a Christmas in 2017, it was a great surprise, never expect such a gift!

My notebook I occupy every day because in it I connect to my online classes and do tasks. Also in free time I occupy it to watch series or movies to relax and not to be so stressed with the subjects of the university.I really like my notebook because it is medium size, a pearl white color that makes it elegant, but I really like it because it has a lot of Gb of internal memory and a quick start, in all the time that this with me has never presented a flaw.

Life without him would be very complicated because I wouldn’t have where to do my college jobs and homework, nor would I have where to watch my favorite shows, it would be a catastrophe!

Post 2: Why did you choose this carrer/study programme?

When I was a kid, I never thought I could work when I was an adult, I just had the dream of being a mom, but it was kind of crazy for a six year old.

When I reached eighth grade I longed to be a dentist but I wasn't entirely convinced, then in the larger courses I realized that I liked many areas but I didn't know wich was my favorite.

When I left school I didn't know what to study, so I decided to enter the academic program of baccalaureate of the University of Chile . Where I could discover what my skills were.

I decided to study dentistry because It is what I am most passionate about and I felt like I was making the right decision. I dream of being able to rebuild the smile to many people, it is a wonderful and unique art.

My experience in the university has been positive and calm, but with few friends because due to the pandemic I haven't been able to meet my colleagues. It is also been a little stressful because of the high academic load.

I don't know what kind of work I'd like to have yet, but I hope to be able to help the community.
